Data Science Intern

TCS is hiring a Data Science Intern for its Surat office. This 3-month In Office internship sits within the Technology space and is built for students and recent graduates who want practical, hands-on experience in data science. From your very first week you will work on real, live projects rather than dummy exercises, supported by a mentor who reviews your work and helps you grow. In this role you will spend most of your time analysing data and building predictive models. TCS pairs every intern with a mentor and a clear learning plan, so you always know what you are working on and why. As you gain confidence, you will take on more ownership and see how your work fits into the larger goals of the data science function. What you will do day to day: • Clean, explore and analyse real-world datasets • Build, train and evaluate machine-learning models • Engineer features and validate model performance • Visualise findings and present clear insights • Write reproducible Python notebooks and scripts • Collaborate with engineering to take models toward production A typical week blends focused, hands-on work with learning. You will get comfortable with Python, Machine Learning, Statistics and the supporting tools the TCS team relies on, follow a clear process for taking work from idea to finished output, and join the regular reviews where the team discusses progress. This rhythm is exactly how professionals operate, and you will absorb it by living it rather than just reading about it. Expect to develop real proficiency in Python, Machine Learning, Statistics, SQL during the program. Just as importantly, you will learn how a professional team actually operates — how work is planned, reviewed and shipped — and you will leave with a portfolio of real deliverables and the confidence to talk about them in interviews. The ideal candidate is a motivated learner who takes ownership and communicates well. Prior internship experience is a plus but absolutely not required — attitude and consistency matter more. If you are pursuing or have recently completed B.E./B.Tech, BBA, MBA, B.Com, BCA, MCA, B.A., B.Sc or an equivalent program, this opportunity is open to you. Over the internship you will move from guided tasks to real ownership, and that arc is the whole point. TCS measures interns on growth and dependability, not on knowing everything on day one. Perform well and you open the door to a pre-placement offer and a glowing reference; either way, the practical experience you gain as a Data Science Intern is something no classroom can replicate. On top of the day-to-day learning, TCS offers a certificate, a letter of recommendation, hands-on mentorship and a possible pre-placement offer for standout interns. Doing this in Surat means you are building experience and connections in a city where opportunities in this field are abundant. Internship details — Role: Data Science Intern.
